i sat in my stand and got cold. i did not see anything so i got
down and was going to go home and warm up and eat feed
my horse and dog. do the rest of my chores and at home.
as i was walking i seen two bucks milling around . i carefully
took aim took a breath and released. the arrow thudded to the
ground about halfway between me and the buck. now he was
looking for me. they i should say. it was a pretty sight. one
standing broadside with head high and the other one looking over his
shoulder with his head high. if i could move i would've
reloaded but i was in the open and the would see me if i
tried so i just watched till they took cover and left out.
the way they was standing it would've been a two for one shot.
but not with this bow.
went and got my arrow and it had dead centered a little vine
of some kind. and it stayed on my arrow.
so i am off to do it again this morning.
freez that is.
happy hunting and good luck

its cold
its cold out finally . now maybe it will be more like bow season.
hope thing go better than yesterday.
i am starting to feel like mr. fulton. he was a friend of
my step father. he was one of those people that always
had a catastrophe once a day. if he touched or had anything
to do with it it went badly and most of the time he would go
to the E.R. i doubt that he is still alive. last time i seen him he
had been in the hospital because he cut his hand with a
chainsaw he was truly accident prone. and had the scars to prove it.
but you could always get a good deal from him. i got my
65 chevy impala from him when i was 18 for $400.
he had it one day and wrecked it . and i got my first bow
from him. it was a Indian. he dry fired it and broke a finger
somehow. wish i still had that bow. i was good with it. we
all use to meet up every sunday and shoot for quarters. it
made me 20 or 30 dollars every weekend. that was good back in 1982.
well i better get ready to go hunt
good luck and happy hunting

i missed
well i finally got a shot at a really nice buck. and he walked away never even paid any attention to me or the arrow that landed by his feet. i have the darndest luck bow hunting when i shot a little twig got in the lower pulley of my bow and unrolled my new string i just got put on so i quietly went back home and put it back on like it was. test shot it and went back hunting seen one other deer but they was no shot . it was slipping thru the brush around me and never came out. also seen a grey wolf most people don't know we have them here in missouri
they are a little bigger than a coyote and more of a grey with black instead of grey with brown.
but other than that the cold front move in and it got real windy. my tree stand was starting to make me a little nervous so i got out of it and sat in the brush. then it rained and i came home got pretty soaked al but my feet . my wife bought me some new boots for my birthday. and the did there job my feet stayed dry.
most waterproof boots don't work but these did. i will have to thank her again.
well if it is not raining tomorrow. i will go again but i won't if it is raining.
so good luck and happy hunting

well my bow is ready to go so now i just have to see a deer .it was a little over
seventy dollars to get the string replaced and few other things i probably
didn't need.. but heck it is bow season.
i have been sighting it in for the last couple hours and i am good up to sixty yards.
i hope i don't need to shoot that far. if i do it better be a big buck
that won't come in any closer. i don't like to gamble on deer hunting .
i hate tracking for hours over bad shots. the furthest. i have had to track was in
1980 the deer went three miles but that was rifle season and a good shot.... sometimes they
just don't drop. but thats about rifle season.
went scouting again yesterday. seen a lot of tracks and heard some deer
but they never came in to where i could see them. it was really think
brush the best distance i could see was about 30 feet they was a lot of
old cedars and logging scrapes. but if a deer is going to hide that be the place.
as for two hours of the trip i fell asleep so i could not tell you what
happened during that time.i can just imagine squirrels and deer
checking me out while i was snoring away all propped up at the bottom of the tree.
after all they do seem to show up when you least expect it. last year i was constructing
a blind out of brush and stuff just hammering and sawing away. i turned
around to get something and there was three big doe's just standing there watching me work
of course they just causally left when i seen them. and i think they might of told the
other deer about the blind because i never have seen any deer there since
well it will be a early morning tomorrow. so i will get off here for now and
decide where i am going to hunt.
happy hunting and good luck

went to the woods today just scouting around.
i did not see anything just tracks and they don't fry very well.
but i find it amazing as to how many track that are
new.. and that was not there yesterday
i was kind of lazy about the scouting the weather is just to warm
has anyone seen any rubs and such. i have not .
i remember hunting and it would be frosty every morning
i would be shaking so bad i probably could not
of hit a deer if he ran over me.
i would be sitting in my stand waiting for the sun to shine
and warm me up this season i need suntan oil and shorts.
watch it turn so cold i have to bundle up to where i can't move.
rifle season is less than a month away.
i been in florida for few years was wondering if it has been this
warm during bow season for a while or if it was a new thing

ever wonder what to do with that tent you
don't use any more
we use to resell them in a yard sale or loan them
to family and friends. but this year i took the
thing and set it up in the yard. and cut the bottom out of it.
it was flaking stuff off and sticking to people when they slept in it.
i left about a inch of it around the sides because i didn't want to weaken
it to much and the sides blow in the wind.
went to store and got some spray paint and camo'd it
cut some flaps in it and made a really nice hunting blind.
they way i camouflaged it is here in short video

hope that this idea is helpful.
it seem to work the best for spring turkey season. so far i have not seen deer from the blind but i have a game camera set by it and took some picture of deer eating acorns around it.
it took about 2 hours to convert the tent into a hunting blind.

well i got down there and i seen the deer. but i did not get any pictures
all i seen is white asses running over the hill because they saw me first.
but atleast i know the are still there. i did not see any bucks just three
does but if they are does bucks will soon come. so maybe
i will dog out and get one this year.
thanks all
and happy hunting
well guess while i wait for wednesday to come. i will go
do some scouting and see where the deer are. they were
plenty of deer before season( like always) but i guess
somebody told the it was deer season to. so i will take a camera
and go see what there is to see. i have only seen one lonely turkey.
they were plenty of the during the spring hunt but not so many this fall
my bow was so old they had to make the string. golden eagle pro hawk
or something it has a piece of rubber over the name. they are lucky
it was not my first compound bow. it was a Indian my second bow was a mathews
and then my third was a hoyt but due to health issue i am using the gold eagle.
it adjust down to a poundage i can pull. but as far as bows go i miss the mathews.
it had no problem shooting distance. i could hit a paper plate
at eighty yards every time. the eagle i don't think will be very accurate
after forty yards well guess i better get while there is some
daylight left to take some pictures.

just got back from trying to get a bow string for my bow.
three different towns , forty dollars in gas and six archery shops.
and finally the last place had the ability to restring my bow.
thirty dollars for the string. fifteen to put it on six for
the D loop another six for cat whiskers. and i could pick it up tomorrow
but i don't want to make a special trip for the bow so
i will wait till wensday next week because i got to go back to that
town anyway.
Just to make thing better my wife who is a avid turkey hunter
was on her way back from hunting just told me she seen a big
buck and to doe's where i was hunting.. but i was not there
because i damaged my bow aand had to come home oh well
maybe they will settle in if some of the dogs don't run them
off before i get to go hunt some more.
Bow Hunting Deer
Bow season so far has been horrible. opening morning I over
slept and when i got to my tree stand the deer were standing all around it.
they were looking right at me with that where have you been look. then they
trotted off one by one like that's it we did our part we quit.
i reluctantly went ahead and got in my stand. i guess i felt the need to
watch squirls and chip monks scamper around. and the cattle
all come gather for some type of meeting under the tree my stand was in.
the second day of season i got to my stand way to early.
about two and a half hours before daylight. it was cold and drizzly.
i thought the sun would never come. my wife got me a new toy
a grunt call so i watched you tube videos the night
before so i would know how to use it. so about thirty minutes
after day like i gave it a blow. and to my surprise heads popped up
about one hundred yards away. looking right at me.
well at least they know where i am.
they went back to eating and milling around ten to fifteen
minutes later after i play like a statue. the were about seventy yards away
when some dogs started running something. they all looked toward the dogs
and the they bolted. they went towards the dogs. so i watched the squirl parade
for a couple hours went home and ate some lunch
and rested up for the evening hunt
on my way back to my stand i have to pass a big pond. there around
the back of the pond lay the dogs that had been running the deer off.
got out to chase them away and there in the pond was a dead buck.
he was not there when i went to the house earlier. so i chased the dogs away
and throw-ed my tie downs out to try and drag the buck out of the pond.
mud was to deep to wade so for two hours i worked on
getting him out of the pond. i finally snagged a antler and got him out.
he was a nine point. would of been a nice bow trophy.
i went on to my stand and hunted what was left of the evening
but seen nothing. i seen nothing for the next four days.
except dogs. and in our state all you can do is chase the dogs away
i have seen one hound dog two german shepherds four lab mix and three other
mutts. so i decided to hunt a differn't area today igot to the spot got all set up
got a arrow out of my quiver and dropped it as it fell it hit the string of my bow.
well my hunt is over for now till i get a new string put on my bow and
get it all sight back in. i hope the your season is going bettter than mine.
I will get my bow fixed and post the rest of the bow season later
good luck
.
